Lake George 2026: A Weekend to Remember
Every June, Danbury Drum Corps makes the trip up to Lake George, NY — and this year's trip was one for the books.
Friday Night: Mardi Gras on the Lake
We kicked off the weekend marching in the Lake George Mardi Gras Parade, this year themed around America's 250th anniversary. Marching alongside the Hudson Valley Blue Vests Nut Busters, the corps brought the energy under the lights, with the lake as our backdrop and a crowd that made every step worth it.
Afterward, the celebration didn't stop — back at the Blue Moon Motel, the corps enjoyed some pizza and pool time. Some members even caught the United States vs. Paraguay opening match of the 2026 World Cup — a game the U.S. won 4-1. (We did say celebrating America was the Mardi Gras theme, right?!)
Saturday: Parade, BBQ, and Pool Time
In the afternoon, we marched in the Hudson Valley Convention parade, this time representing the Kerhonkson Fire Department. Another great route, another great crowd, and a performance the corps was proud of.
Once the parade wrapped, the members did what we do best — BBQ and pool time! We also squeezed in a jam session in the Blue Moon Motel parking lot, because when you're a drum corps, you play music whenever possible.
The Trophy Ceremony
The weekend's biggest moment came at the trophy ceremony, where Danbury Drum Corps brought home two awards:
🥇 Best Drum Corps
🥇 Best Musical Color Guard
Two parades, two days, and two trophies to bring home to Danbury — a fantastic way to kick off our 99th anniversary year.
Just as importantly, our fire company, Kerhonkson, was awarded Best Appearing Fire Unit Dress Uniform 16-25 in line. Congratulations to all!
